Project statement
1
The majority of the city's printshops rely on customers showing up in person to make orders.
2
The ones that do provide online ordering, usually do not offer delivery.
3
Many users are complaining about the lack of or poor communication with the staff.
4
For many people, time is a limited resource.
To create a responsive website for an online printshop that enables users to order online everything they want to print and have it delivered or picked up.

summary
I conducted user interviews to better understand what are two major user needs.
Who is this for ? Persona
I identified two main groups of potential users.
1
A primary group I identified are students who need to print a lot of their projects, assessment papers, licenses etc.
2
The second group are people who need printed materials for their business, their organization's campaigns or even their wedding venue.
Journey map
I created a user journey map of Sebastian's experience using a printshop website to help identify possible pain points and improvement opportunities.

Site map
Websites that are difficult to navigate and where users cannot quickly and easily find what they are looking for are the main factors that create confusion and stress.
On The Printing Factory website, the information architecture will allow users to order online and print quick and easily, either using their own design or assisting them to create one online.
paper wireframes
I started with pen-and-paper mockups for every page, and I made many different versions, until I found the combination that matches user needs and would be as intuitive as possible.
Digital wireframes
With the needs of our users in mind, moving from paper to digital wireframes, I focused on the main flow of online ordering a print.

Lo-fi prototype
Next, I build a low-fidelity clickable prototype in Adobe XD, for both web and mobile screens, which will be used for testing with potential users.

Parameters
Study type: unmoderated usability study
Participants: 5 participants
Location: Cluj-Napoca, remote
Time: 20 minutes
Findings
I conducted two rounds of usability studies using both web and mobile versions of the design. The first was on the low-fidelity prototype and the second round was on the high-fidelity prototype.
Many users have found the burger menu annoying on the web version, but were fine using it in the mobile version.
During the checkout process, the shipment details on a different page from the invoice address were confusing.
Some text on the mobile version was difficult for users to read.

What I learned ?
The most important takeaway from this project is to focus on the users needs first. I learned that the user experience from one screen size to another can be very different, and a design solution that works very well for one screen size may not be the best one for another.
Impact
Our users reported that The Printing Factory website prototype was very easy to navigate through. It provides the needed online ordering of print services as well as an online design feature that helps users make their own design without the stress of not having the right layout or software to do it.
Next steps
As a next step, I would like to iterate more about the online design features of the website and test different categories of prints.
